Mikołaj Surmanowicz, a retired employee of WSK PZL Kalisz factory built a human powered helicopter during 1971-1973. It is a structure of steel and duraluminium tubes, with wooden empennage and rotor of 2.5 m diameter, weighing 17 kg. In autumn of 1973 and summer of 1974 the designer conducted trials of the helicopter at Ostrów Flying Club airfield, making short „leaps”, but failing to make a full flight. Further work on the helicopter was terminated by the designer's death
in 1975.
