The visitor parking is located at Markowskiego Street (entrance from Jana Pawla II Avenue) and at Gnysia Street. Cars can also be left along the access road to the Museum. Parking is free of charge.

If you wish to arrive by car and hold a disability identification card, you can reserve a parking space in advance. This allows you to drive up to the main museum building and park close to the entrance. To reserve a space, call the accessibility coordinator at 789-059-943. This parking area is not open to the general public. In the public parking area on Markowskiego Street, two spaces have been designated, and on Gnysia Street one parking space has been designated for persons with disabilities.

The path to the main entrance of the Polish Aviation Museum is concrete, wide, and paved.

You may enter the Museum with a guide dog.

Main Building

The main building of the Polish Aviation Museum is wheelchair accessible. The entrance is located on the ground floor, with no stairs or thresholds. The doors and walls are made of glass and are not marked with contrast tape.

The Main Building has 2 floors. The building is equipped with stairs whose edges are marked with contrast tape. There is also an elevator with Braille buttons and voice announcements. The top floor houses offices, and the second floor has a conference room that is adapted for persons with disabilities. A restroom with a changing table is located nearby. You can also use the kitchen to heat up a meal. If needed, please inform the staff.

On the ground floor there is a ticket office, a shop, and an exhibition. At the ticket office, you can borrow wheelchairs, magnifying glasses, and noise-cancelling headphones. Next to the ticket office there is a tactile map. On the ground floor there is also a restroom for persons with disabilities, equipped with an alarm to call for assistance. There is also a space where sensory-sensitive individuals can rest. If you wish to use it, please contact the accessibility coordinator (789059943). The building has wide, paved walkways, which facilitate movement for visitors. The institution is not equipped with audio navigation systems for blind persons.

Outdoor Exhibition

The area is mostly free of architectural barriers and elevations. The entire Museum grounds are at ground level and can be visited via wide, paved walkways. The outdoor exhibition features benches for resting and information totems. The section of the road leading through the outdoor exhibition to the hangar “With the Wind and Against the Wind. Civil Aviation” is uneven.

The Museum offers guided tours by electric cart. This is a convenient way to see the exhibition and the entire Museum grounds. It makes it easy to learn about its history and buildings. This form of visiting is ideal for families with children, elderly persons, and those with mobility difficulties. We have 2 vehicles, each seating 7 persons. A ride is possible upon prior reservation by phone (+48 12 642 87 00 ext. 115) or email (ilona.cygan@muzeumlotnictwa.pl) and confirmation of availability.

Hangars

The exhibition of the Polish Aviation Museum is located at ground level and is accessible to wheelchair users, thanks to the absence of thresholds or the use of appropriate ramps.

In the hangar “People and Wings of the 20th Century” and “With the Wind and Against the Wind. Civil Aviation” there are viewing mezzanines, which can be accessed via a vertical platform with buttons marked in Braille. There are no voice announcements. The buildings contain restrooms for persons with disabilities. The floor surface in the buildings is paved and flat.

The hangar “Wings of the Great War” is currently accessible by wheelchair through the door on the Aleja Migow side. Ask the staff for directions to this entrance.

Chancellery

This building is designated for the Senior Club and for participants of model-making workshops during class hours. A ramp has been installed at the entrance door. Nevertheless, there is a threshold of 2 cm to overcome. The building contains a restroom for persons with disabilities. The floor surface is paved and flat.

Communication and Information Accessibility

You may enter the Polish Aviation Museum with a guide dog.

The Museum has a ticket machine at the main entrance. You can purchase an admission ticket there.  The ticket machine has font size and contrast adjustment features. It is also convenient for wheelchair users, as the buttons are positioned low on the screen.

At the ticket office or the museum shop, you can purchase an Audio Guide. You will receive a card with a QR code to independently explore the exhibition of the Polish Aviation Museum. The application is adapted for persons with special needs. Next to the ticket office there is a tactile map. The board shows the layout of the Museum buildings. While visiting the outdoor exhibition, you can use numerous orientation maps.

Most staff members working in visitor services have been trained in assisting persons with various needs. Our experienced and trained guides encourage you to choose the specially dedicated “Touch the Sky” trail, prepared for persons with visual impairments. During guided tours, we provide 3D aircraft models so that you can learn about the construction of a given aircraft type through the sense of touch. You can also choose a tour along one of the trails offered by the Museum (link). The guide will adapt the tour programme to your needs and abilities. The Museum offers live transcription during guided tours. Simply indicate this need when making a reservation.

We also offer the possibility of visiting with an induction loop. Groups of up to 19 persons can participate in such tours. Please indicate your wish to use the induction loop by email at least 2 days before your planned visit.

Below is a questionnaire that we ask you to fill in and send by email to sylwia.przywora@muzeumlotnictwa.pl in order to reserve a guided tour.
