Our Museum has purchased an amateur DKW SAM car, designed in the 1950s and subsequently built over more than 10 years on the chassis and components of a pre-war DKW F8, using numerous parts from other vehicles.

The highly aerodynamic body shape was achieved using specially prepared casting moulds, with the use of epoxy resin and fibreglass laminate, which was being introduced in glider construction at the time. Another aviation element is the duralumin sheet floor panels. The creator of the car was engineer Władysław Okarmus, an employee of the Glider Experimental Works in Bielsko-Biała, one of the most outstanding Polish glider designers and the creator of, among others, the Foka gliders. This object is an excellent example of the application of aviation technologies in other branches of industry.
