The Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow is introducing a new, convenient way to explore its collections: guided tours by electric golf cart. This is a response to the needs of visitors who want to see as much as possible while also valuing comfort and accessibility.

Located on the grounds of the historic Rakowice–Czyżyny Airport, the Polish Aviation Museum covers 34 hectares, including 11 hectares of exhibition space. This vast area houses seven exhibition buildings and a rich outdoor exhibition featuring dozens of aircraft. The scale of the collection and the distances between individual locations make a full tour challenging, especially for seniors, families with small children, and visitors with limited mobility.

With them in mind – but not exclusively – a new offer has been created: a guided melex ride. This is a solution for anyone who wants to see the entire Museum, without necessarily treating the visit as a stride workout.

Comfort and in-depth aviation information

This new form of tour combines convenience with in-depth historical exploration. As you cycle through the exhibition, a museum guide provides insights into the aircraft on display, the pilots and designers, and the Rakowice–Czyżyny airport itself – a site of exceptional significance in the history of Polish aviation.

It’s worth emphasizing that the tour isn’t limited to just driving. An electric car (Melex) is used for convenient transportation between the facilities, while entry to the hangars and exhibition spaces is via a traditional approach. This allows visitors to fully experience the exhibition while conserving their energy on longer sections of the route.

Practical information and reservations

This new service is one of the first of its kind offered by museums in Krakow. It’s already proving very popular with visitors who appreciate the opportunity to comfortably and comprehensively explore one of the most important aviation collections in Europe.

Two vehicles are available, each accommodating seven visitors. Tours are available in Polish and English, and require prior reservation.
