It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we bid farewell to Andrzej Krupa — an outstanding modeller and instructor, pioneer of Polish radio-controlled modelling, glider pilot, and a witness to the displacement and destruction of Jasło in 1944. He passed away on 17 February 2026 at the age of 91.
Andrzej Krupa was born on 26 April 1934 in Jasło. As a ten-year-old boy he experienced the trauma of forced displacement, and for the rest of his life he remained a guardian of memory of the tragic fate of the town, sharing his recollections with residents, historians and young people. Thanks to his accounts and commitment, documentary films dedicated to the history of Jasło were produced.
Aviation was his passion from his earliest years. For 40 years he ran the Jasło model-making workshop, raising successive generations of young designers. In 1970 he earned the Silver Gliding Badge and a Class II glider pilot licence, and in 1979 he obtained qualifications as an “S” class model aviation instructor-trainer. He was among the pioneers of radio-controlled modelling, as already in 1960 he independently built radio-control equipment for models.
As a competitor he achieved numerous successes: he was a multiple vice-champion of Poland, a national team representative at international competitions and stood on the podium dozens of times. He held licence No. 126, which placed him among the select luminaries of Polish model-making. He also pursued his passion within the Podkarpacki Aeroclub, where he headed the modelling section, remaining faithful to aviation until the end of his days.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
The funeral ceremony will take place at the Parish Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Jasło on Saturday, 21 February 2026 at 11:00.
