Farewell to Jerzy Mularczyk

DATE:01 / 06 / 2026

It is with deep sadness and regret that we bid farewell to Jerzy Mularczyk – a long-standing member of the Board of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, an aircraft designer, a leading expert in the field of historic aircraft design, and an academic lecturer. He passed away on 27 May 2026.

Jerzy Mularczyk was a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering and Aeronautics at the Warsaw University of Technology. For many years, he worked at PZL Warszawa-Okęcie, where he headed the Static Testing Laboratory. He also served as Technical Director of the Polish Aero Club.

Replica builder and member of the Board of the Polish Aviation Museum

In 1995, he took on the role of chief designer, leading a team of over a dozen engineers who set out to design a flying replica of the famous RWD-5 sports aircraft. After five years of painstaking engineering work, amounting to thousands of hours, the completed aircraft took to the skies in 2000.

He also designed a replica of the RWD-8 and began compiling documentation for the RWD-6, RWD-4 and RWD-3.

His work also left a lasting mark on the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków. His contribution to the Museum was exceptional and multifaceted. The replica of the RWD-8, designed by Jerzy Mularczyk, is one of the exhibits in our collection, serving as a living testament to interwar design philosophy. He was also a long-standing member of the Council of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones.

The funeral service was take place on Tuesday, 2 June 2026 at 10:00 am at St Anne’s Parish Church in Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
