“With the Wind and Against the Wind — Civil Aviation” is the largest exhibition in Poland and one of the most impressive in Europe dedicated to the history of civil aviation. Over 3,000 m² of modern exhibition space presents a fascinating story of the development of Polish aviation — from pioneering experiments and designs to contemporary achievements in air sports, engineering and air transport. The exhibition was officially opened to the public on 24 August 2025, as part of the Polish Aviation Day celebrations.
The exhibition is a unique journey through over a century of history — full of passion, courage and dreams of flying. It showcases the people, machines and institutions that shaped Polish civil aviation, often in difficult circumstances, but always with belief in progress and the power of wings. Among hundreds of carefully selected exhibits are both original aircraft and gliders as well as unique documents, photographs, decorations and personal memorabilia — many of which have been made available to the general public for the first time.
The new exposition is housed in Hangar No. 5, erected on the site of the historic hangar of the former 2nd Aviation Regiment. The building was designed with modernity, accessibility and visitor comfort in mind.
