On Sunday, 12 April 2026, at 6.00 pm, the exhibition hall of the Main Building of the Polish Aviation Museum will host the concert ‘Percussion Horizons’, organised by the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.
The concert will open the sixth edition of the ‘‘Percussion Horizons’ festival – a project aimed at introducing a wider audience to rarely performed solo and ensemble percussion works. This is a unique opportunity to hear rarely performed pieces, as well as to experience percussion instruments in the leading role. It will be an memorable show, engaging both the ear and the imagination.
The performers will be students from the percussion classes and the Chamber Orchestra of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, conducted by Maciej Tworek. They will present a programme demanding the highest precision and virtuosity.
The concert programme included two compositions:
These pieces are about universal emotions and experiences – passionate love, a longing for freedom adn a deep connection with tradition and the familiar landscape of the mountains. Bizet’s Carmen Suite embodies passionate love and rebellion – Spanish dances and marches will pulsate with percussive energy. Kilar’s Orava mesmerises with its primal rhythm inspired by the folklore of the Podhale region, showing love for tradition and the majesty of the mountains.
We are delighted that the Polish Aviation Museum will once again serve as the venue for an extraordinary musical event – this time offering an insight into the world of percussion instruments. Previously, as part of our collaboration with the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, we had the pleasure of hosting concerts such as „The Firebird” or „Musical Fantasy”.
