On 14 March, the 8th Indoor Glider Model Competition for the Mayor’s Cup of the Town and Municipality of Niepołomice took place in the sports hall of Primary School No. 4 in Niepołomice. Competitors from across the country took part, including the team from the Model Workshop of the Polish Aviation Museum, which performed very well, securing one of the top places in the team classification.
In Saturday’s competition held in the hall in Niepołomice, 33 competitors representing model workshops from across the country took part, including from Bochnia, Zamość, Wrocław and Warsaw. Representatives of the MODEL WORKSHOP of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków were also present. The competitors entered in several different categories:
The MODEL WORKSHOP of the Polish Aviation Museum had its representatives in two groups:
In the first category, our representatives finished in 4th and 10th place respectively, while in the second category Michał Filas, who leads the classes at our MODEL WORKSHOP, also finished in 10th place.
Although none of our competitors stood on the podium this time, the combined result of the entire team gave a very good outcome in the final classification — our MODEL WORKSHOP received the 2nd Honourable Mention (a prize of PLN 800). This is proof of excellent preparation, high quality and hard work by both the competitors and the instructor.
Heartfelt congratulations to all participants — especially to those who received distinctions and those who fought until the very last second of flight.
We invite you to participate in our museum MODEL WORKSHOP, where the passion for aviation grows with every model built.
The MODEL WORKSHOP of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków is a place where weekly WORKSHOP CLASSES in building flying models (balloons, gliders, aircraft… — including radio-controlled ones!) take place.
They are led by Michał Filas — one of the most outstanding Polish model aviation builders! A member of the national team in model aviation.
We invite children and young people over 10 years of age to the weekly meetings. You can find more details on the MODEL WORKSHOP website.
