On the occasion of Polish Aviation Day 2023, we wish all pilots and aviation enthusiasts good health, joy and as many landings as take-offs
We began our celebrations on Sunday, 27 August, with a ceremonial laying of flowers together with the Kraków Aviation Seniors’ Club at the Wall of Remembrance by the Main Hangar, and then moved on to the next items on the programme, which included:
- the opening and presentation of the exhibition “Under the African Sky. Skalski’s Circus 1943”,
- “Meeting by the Aircraft”: Supermarine Spitfire,
- screening of the film “Skalski’s Circus”,
- a concert by the Kraków Old Town Orchestra and the Representative Brass Band of the Wieliczka Salt Mine,
- and the Representative Brass Band of the Wieliczka Salt Mine,
- the opening of works by Justyna Zawadzka and “In Silk and Feather” art workshops,
- a lecture and display of flight nurse uniforms in USAAF service 1943–1945 presented by the Army Nurse Corps Historical Association,
- and a screening of the film “Attack on the Sorpe Dam” with discussion.
In addition, as part of educational activities, together with the Małopolska Science Centre Cogiteon, we ran aviation games and activities and opened the interiors of the An-26 and Yak-40 aircraft and the Mil Mi-8S (Papal) helicopter for tours.
