Proceedings of the 2nd KOBED Heritage Safety Congress

On Monday (3 June 2024), the second day of the 2nd Heritage Safety Congress KOBED began. The proceedings were opened by the Museum Director, Mr Tomasz Kosecki.

The full event was attended by Deputy Voivode Ms Elżbieta Achinger, Director of the Department of Culture and National Heritage of the Marshal’s Office of the Małopolska Region Ms Monika Gubała, and Director of the Heritage Safety Institute Dr Katarzyna Góralczyk, chair of the congress organising committee.

Five sessions were held that day:

  • Safe Local Government — Safe Heritage
  • Rescuing Monuments — Experiences and Lessons from Operations in Ukraine
  • Protection of Large-Scale Technical Museum Objects in the Event of Armed Conflict
  • Cultural Institutions Facing Threats — Preparation and Organisation of Protection
  • Protection of Cultural Property in the Armed Forces

as well as the workshop VR — Presentation of a “Digital Twin” Using Augmented Reality Glasses, led by Bartosz Ajszpur, MSc Eng.

On the second day of proceedings (4 June 2024), five more sessions will be held:

  • Historical Contexts of Heritage Threats
  • Cultural Heritage Safety
  • Selected Aspects of State Fire Service Involvement in the Protection and Evacuation of Historical Monuments
  • Contemporary Challenges for the Protection and Care of Cultural Heritage
  • New Technologies and Unconventional Proposals in Cultural Heritage Protection

as well as the workshop Archival Packaging for Museum Objects led by Piotr Tyrna.
