There is no aviation without engineers and scientists! And at the beginning of every great innovation there was simply curiosity and a passion for experimentation!

That is why Polish Aviation Day wouldn’t be complete without science experiment shows! Colourful flames, water vortices, a fire tornado… these are just some of the attractions prepared for us by educators from the Małopolska Science Centre Cogiteon.

The Fire and Water shows will demonstrate the immense energy that lies dormant in nature. When we bring these two powerful elements together, we can learn many interesting things that are seemingly surprising and counterintuitive. Participants will discover that fire and water not only compete with each other, but also work together brilliantly!

Practical information:

  • The shows will take place at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM in the conference room on the first floor of the Museum’s main building.
  • Participation in the shows is free of charge (included in the Polish Aviation Day ticket price).
  • Places are limited (max. 180 people)!
  • Registration is required and should be submitted by email to: deum@muzeumlotnictwa.pl.
  • Admission to the shows is on a first-come, first-served basis.

What does passenger check-in at the airport look like?…

During Polish Aviation Day, airports celebrate too!

Among them is the one closest to us — Kraków Airport, which is a Patron of events organised by our Museum.

On Sunday 25 August at Polish Aviation Day, thanks to the Kraków Airport Aviation Education Centre, you will have the opportunity to learn about dozens of different professions whose representatives work together so that an airline passenger can safely take to the skies.

And if you have ever wondered what a “wind counter” looks like and how it works… then you absolutely must visit their stand!

Aviation outdoor game and quizzes

Those who enjoy aviation challenges are warmly invited to take part in an outdoor game during Polish Aviation Day. Educators from our Museum, together with colleagues from the Małopolska Science Centre Cogiteon, have prepared an exciting storyline that will lead you through several checkpoints — at each one you can collect a valuable piece… Shh! It’s a secret for now, but we can reveal that once you collect all the parts, something truly sky-high will emerge!

Polish Aviation Day celebrations

To take part in the outdoor game, register at the Cogiteon tent between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

And if you would like to test your aviation knowledge, we encourage you to take part in quizzes that will be held in the Polish Aviation Museum tent at: 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

We will be testing your knowledge in the following areas:

  • general aviation knowledge
  • the history of our Museum
  • knowledge about aircraft — our museum exhibits

Prizes to be won: aviation surprise gifts and ice cream vouchers from GOODLOOD

Large-format board games

Board game enthusiasts should definitely visit the stands of the IPN Regional Office for National Education in Kraków and the Home Army Museum. These institutions, which safeguard the memory of Poles who fought for freedom, have prepared two extraordinary large-format board games.

At the IPN tent, you will play “303” — a fast-paced war game for two players. One player commands the RAF defending Great Britain, while the other attacks with the German Luftwaffe. The task of the Third Reich’s air force is to bomb London, while the goal of the Allied air force is to stop the aggressor. The gameplay is dynamic, has an engaging atmosphere and simple rules, providing great satisfaction from making the right decisions for both younger and older strategists.

Meanwhile, at the Home Army Museum stand, you may be surprised by an ambush, a round-up or an attack on a guard post! Thanks to the large-format game prepared by the museum staff, you will be able to travel back to the times of World War II and experience the realities of life in an occupied city. In a team competition on a giant board measuring 7×7 metres, you will take an unusual walk through the streets of occupied Kraków. The route leads both to places where something important happened and to stops where you need to demonstrate knowledge or skills. The game has an attractive graphic design, created in line with the latest trends in design.

Participation in the games is free of charge and does not require additional registration.

Colourful attractions for the youngest visitors

Exciting activities adapted to their age await preschool and early primary school children too. We invite you to the outdoor funfair zone. Those interested can also take part in aviation-themed face painting by Kraina Bzików and masterful paper aeroplane folding workshops, which will be held throughout the event in the Polish Aviation Museum tent.
