This Year at Polish Aviation Day – We Travel Back in Time by… 1,000 Years!

DATE:21 / 08 / 2025

This year’s Polish Aviation Day, which will be held on Sunday 24 August 2025 at the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, promises to be exceptional. In addition to the opening of the new permanent exhibition “With the Wind and Against the Wind — Civil Aviation”, we will also jointly celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the Kingdom of Poland.

To mark the occasion, a medieval village from the times of King Bolesław Chrobry will be set up on the Museum grounds. Visitors will be able to travel back a thousand years and experience life in a medieval encampment.

Medieval village attractions:

  • Knight encampment – tents and shelters with full equipment, presenting daily life from centuries ago.
  • Medieval armoury – the opportunity to view, try on and photograph yourself in helmets, armour elements and with period weapons.
  • Medieval wardrobe – ladies’ and men’s costumes, headwear and adornments available to try on.
  • Ancient crafts workshops – items made by hand can be taken home as souvenirs.

Shows and tournaments:

  • Safe sport sword fighting tournament – in categories for children, youth and adults.
  • Chain mail throwing tournament – open to re-enactors and the public.
  • Equestrian displays – four knights in full armour will demonstrate their skills in competitions with lances, swords and spears, accompanied by ladies and pages.

The combination of aviation tradition with historical re-enactment from a thousand years ago will make this year’s Polish Aviation Day an event of a unique character, connecting a passion for the past with a fascination with the present.

We warmly invite all families to celebrate together in this exceptional, attraction-filled atmosphere.
