In June 1983, Pope John Paul II made his second pilgrimage to Poland. On that occasion, the Mi-8 helicopter now on display at the Aviation Museum was used for the first time.
During the winter season, the aircraft will be accessible to visitors from the outside only.
Friday 31 October will be the last day this autumn when it will be possible to view the papal helicopter from the inside, between 10:30–11:00 AM and 2:30–3:00 PM. After that, there will be a break until April 2026. During the winter season, we do not open the helicopter’s interior to visitors in order to protect it from moisture. All those interested in visiting who do not manage to see it this year are welcome to come in spring. In winter, the helicopter can only be admired from the outside.
Those interested in this helicopter model are encouraged to read interesting facts on our dedicated page about the Mil Mi-8S.
