The oldest engine in the Museum’s collection. The designer of the Antoinette engine was Leon Levavasseur. Each of the eight cylinders has a separate injection carburettor. Of particular note is the cooling system, which utilised full evaporation of water on the cylinders. Due to the complicated fuel system and cooling arrangement, the engine did not find favour with users at the time. It was used in aircraft of the same name.
