This is an improved version of the French-licensed Clerget engine. It has aluminium cylinders (except for steel heads) and pistons, significantly reducing engine weight. This technological solution reduced the rotary torque of the propeller-engine assembly.
The Bentley BR.1 is displayed in the Museum on the Sopwith F.1 Camel fighter.
