An engine developed under the direction of K. Khachaturov, used in earlier versions of the MiG-23 fighter aircraft and the MiG-23UB trainer-combat aircraft. The R-27W-300 version without afterburner served as the powerplant for the Yak-38 shipborne VTOL attack aircraft.
