The engine featured two pushrods controlling the valves and two spark plugs per cylinder. The innovations applied improved the operational characteristics of this engine. It was one of the best engines of World War I. The production licence was purchased by Great Britain. It was used, among others, in World War I fighter aircraft such as the Sopwith Triplane, Sopwith Camel, and Nieuport 17.
