The Hauba model 1938 is a Polish prototype of the hard flight helmet that came into use in the post-war years. It was produced in Poland at the Balloon and Parachute Factory in Legionowo in the 1930s.
The Hauba was intended primarily for crews of PZL.23 Karaś and PZL.37 Łoś bombers and other aircraft equipped with radio. It consists of a hard shell made of six layers of impregnated jute covered with leather, and a soft leather balaclava lined with chamois on the inside, fastened under the chin and fitted with headphone and throat microphone (laryngophone) mounts. Flight goggles and an oxygen mask could also be attached to the Hauba.
