An engine designed by Hellmuth Hirth, equipped with a single-stage supercharger. A characteristic feature of the engine was a crankshaft assembled from elements joined together, and the connection of the propeller to the engine shaft using the so-called Hirth coupling. It was used in the Messerschmitt Bf 108C and Heinkel He 116 aircraft.
