A turbofan bypass engine, developed in the 1960s at Aleksandr Ivchenko’s design bureau for the planned light passenger aircraft Yakovlev Yak‑40.

Engines of the AI‑25 family were also used to power the Czechoslovak Aero L‑39 Albatros trainer aircraft and the Polish-Soviet agricultural aircraft PZL M‑15 Belphegor.
