A second-generation version of the MiG-21 aircraft. In the NATO code it bore the designation Fishbed-D. An interceptor fighter equipped with the RP-21 radar station, capable of carrying RS-2US radar beam-guided missiles and R-3 infrared-guided missiles, without fixed gun armament, with an additional dorsal fuel tank.
Between 1964 and 1965, Poland purchased 84 aircraft, operated until 1989. The example with side number 1901 was assigned to the 41st FAR in Malbork on 10.07.1965. It subsequently flew with the 1st FAR in Minsk Mazowiecki. After completing its service, it was transferred to the Polish Aviation Museum in 1990.
