Col. Jozef Slawomir Hartman (1898-1979) was the commandant of the clandestine warfare training centre at Audley End (together with Col. Terry Roper-Caldbeck), head of the Polish section of SOE STS 43 (Special Operations Executive, a Secret Intelligence Service section that assigned tasks to the Home Army intelligence, among others). From December 1943, he was the head of training of Section VI of the Supreme Commander’s Staff (which cooperated with SOE).
