Col. Pilot Edward Lewandowski (1892-1960) was the commander of the 2nd Aviation Regiment in Krakow from 1931 to 1939. During World War I, he fought in the Legions. In 1919, he was trained as a pilot. During the Polish-Bolshevik War, he served in the 15th Fighter Squadron and was awarded the Virtuti Militari cross.
