Designed at the Czechoslovak Walter factory, this engine was produced under licence at the State Engineering Works (PZInz.) in Ursus. It was used in the RWD-13 aircraft. Approximately 100 units were produced.
The museum specimen, serial number 2017, comes from the RWD-13 SP-BML aircraft, known for its daring escape to Sweden from German-besieged Gdynia on 14 September 1939. The aircraft was interned in Sweden until the end of the war. In 1952 it was involved in an accident.
In 1998, Swedish pilot Viking Osterlindh donated the surviving engine of the aircraft to the collection of the Polish Aviation Museum.
