An improved version of the licence-produced Pegasus engine.

A 9-cylinder air-cooled radial piston engine. Manufactured at Engine Factory No. 1 in Warsaw-Okecie under licence from the British company Bristol. It replaced the unsuccessful Pegasus II engine in production. Over 350 engines of this type were produced between 1936 and 1937.

The Pegasus VIII was replaced in production by the Pegasus XX engine, intended for the PZL.37 Los and PZL.46 Sum aircraft. The Pegasus VIII engine was used in the PZL.23B Karas, PZL.30 and PZL.42 aircraft.
