An engine designed by Arkady Dmitriyevich Shvetsov in collaboration with N. B. Okromeshko. The M‑11 was the first Soviet air-cooled engine to enter service. In 1926 it went into serial production and was manufactured in large numbers.
Many modifications were developed to extend the engine’s service life. The M‑11FR modification, with power increased to 160 hp, dates from 1944. The M‑11FR engine was used in the Yakovlev Yak‑12, Yak‑18 and WSK TS‑9 Junak 3 aircraft.
