The Lim-6bis entered service with Polish aviation in 1962. In this version, all changes introduced in the Lim-5M and Lim-6 were ultimately abandoned, retaining only the brake parachute container mounted at the base of the vertical stabilizer, while reverting to the Lim-5 main landing gear.
Additional ordnance was to be carried on two pylons mounted under the wings, near the fuselage. The Lim-6bis began to be delivered to the military in March 1963. Initially, these were modified Lim-6s, followed by converted Lim-5Ms. Another 70 Lim-6bis aircraft were newly built, with production completed in 1964. Some were manufactured in a reconnaissance version, designated Lim-6bisR.
