WSK Lis-2 (lic. Klimow WK-1A)

A licence-built version of the powerplant of the first jet MiGs.

A turbojet engine with a double-sided centrifugal compressor, nine combustion chambers and a single-stage turbine. The WK‑1A engine was developed in 1949 at the design bureau of V. Klimov, based on the British Rolls-Royce Nene engine purchased from the United Kingdom and produced in the USSR as the RD‑45F. The RD‑45F engine was used in the MiG‑15 fighter, while the WK‑1A was used in its improved version, the MiG‑15bis, as well as in the MiG‑17 and Il‑28.

In 1955, Poland purchased a licence for the MiG‑15bis fighter, which was produced at the WSK Mielec factory as the Lim‑2, and the WK‑1A engine, produced at the WSK Rzeszow factory as the Lis‑2 (Licence engine-2).
