The 20th anniversary edition of the Małopolska Researchers’ Night is now behind us. During the evening, scientific and cultural institutions from across the region opened their doors to bring the world of science closer to the residents of Małopolska. At the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, participants were treated to events focusing on aeronautical engineering.
On Friday, 25 September 2026, Małopolska once again became the venue for a unique encounter with science. As part of the Małopolska Researchers’ Night, cultural institutions from across the region organised numerous events that allowed visitors to explore science from various perspectives. At the Polish Aviation Museum, visitors were treated to workshops and lectures on topics relating to aeronautical engineering – participants had the chance to learn about solutions designed to assist pilots and systems that automate aircraft control.
At 5.00 pm and 7.20 pm, workshops entitled ‘Transparent Aviation Sights’ took place, during which participants were able to gain a better understanding of how this type of instrument used in aviation works. Between the workshops, at 6.00 pm, a lecture entitled ‘Autopilot – what is it and how does it work?’ was held, focusing on the system that assists pilots in controlling aircraft.
The session was led by Karol Zawisza, MEng – an aircraft pilot and the lead instructor for the ‘Aviation Engineering Unveiled’ programme at our Museum.
Participation in the workshops and lecture was free of charge; however, due to the limited number of places, advance registration via Google Forms was required.
The Małopolska Researchers’ Night was an opportunity to explore the fascinating world of aviation together – for both children and adults. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all participants in this year’s event for taking part and visiting our Museum.
