More Exhibits in the New Building

The date of the grand opening of the new main building of the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow is approaching. The modern building will serve a number of functions: exhibition, educational, and office. In addition to preparing the permanent exhibition, two temporary exhibitions are planned in the near future: “Aviation in Posters” and “Aviation in Caricature”. The first will present works from the collection of Krzysztof Dydo and from the collections of the Main Library of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. The second will feature works by Andrzej Olejniczak.

Recently, more aircraft were brought into the new building. The Exhibition Hall now houses mainly Polish aircraft from the interwar period. Visitors can see the Albatros B.IIa reconnaissance-training aircraft, the PWS 26 training aircraft, the RWD 21 sports aircraft, the WSK TS-8 Bies training aircraft, and the Kukułka – an amateur construction by Eugeniusz Pieniążek, which was donated to the collections of the Polish Aviation Museum five years ago. The Educational Hall received the JK-1 Trzmiel Polish experimental helicopter, the fuselage truss of the Stinson L-5 Sentinel aircraft, and a fuselage cross-section of the WSK TS-11 Iskra training aircraft. The collection is complemented by rudders from the PZL-110 Koliber and Lisunov Li-2 aircraft, as well as a Samson 9AD engine.
