Opening of the New Polish Aviation Museum Building to the Public

The New Main Building of the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow was officially opened on 18 September 2010. The very next day, on Sunday 19 September, the building was opened to the numerous visitors who came. The attractions in the Educational Hall were of particular interest, especially among the Museum’s youngest guests. A truly family-friendly atmosphere prevailed.

A pleasant surprise for those who came to the Museum that day around 11 AM was the opportunity to watch pilot Marek Szufa depart – the day before, he had enhanced the grand opening of the New Main Building with his flyover. In the morning sun, M. Szufa performed several aerial manoeuvres before flying off to the north.

At noon, in the Exhibition Hall of the New Main Building, a new temporary exhibition was opened. It was entitled “Aviation in Posters” and consists of collections of aviation-themed posters from the collection of Krzysztof Dydo and from the collections of the Main Library of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. The opening ceremony was performed by: the Director of the Polish Aviation Museum Krzysztof Radwan, the curator of the exhibition and author of its promotional poster, Head of the Museum Collections Inventory Department Piotr Łopalewski, and collector K. Dydo. The vernissage gathered numerous guests, including Prof. Andrzej Ziębliński from the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition presents Polish aviation posters from the 1930s to the present day. The collection will be on display until 31 December 2010.
