A Page from the Battle of Britain

Antoni Głowacki, the only Polish pilot to do so, shot down 5 German aircraft in a single day. On the same day, London was bombed for the first time. This happened due to a navigation error and constituted a violation of Adolf Hitler and Hermann Göring’s explicit ban. In retaliation, Prime Minister Winston Churchill ordered an attack on Berlin the following night.
