First Airfield of the Republic

On the night of 30–31 October, a unit under Captain Roman Florer took over Rakowice airfield from Austrian hands – the first airfield of the Republic of Poland, on whose grounds the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków has operated since 1963.

Battle of Britain Summary

The Battle of Britain ended. During the battle, Polish airmen achieved 203 confirmed and 35 probable aerial victories over German aircraft, and also damaged 36 enemy machines. Thirty-three Polish pilots were killed.
