Maiden Flight of the Łoś

The Polish twin-engine bomber PZL.37 Łoś made its maiden flight. Over 90 Łoś aircraft were built before the outbreak of war. They took part in the 1939 defensive war, and the Romanians used examples evacuated from Poland.

Martial Law in Poland

By decision of the Council of State from the previous day, martial law was declared at midnight. The Military Council of National Salvation was established, the military took power, opposition activists were interned, schools and universities were suspended, correspondence was censored, telephone communications were cut, and a curfew was imposed.
