Death of Captain Szostak’s Crew

During the return flight after a supply drop for the Warsaw Uprising fighters, a Consolidated B-24 Liberator was shot down over the Niepołomice Forest. While attempting to bail out at low altitude, the entire Polish crew perished: Captain Zbigniew Szostak, Sergeant Józef Bielicki, Captain Stanisław Daniel, Sergeant Józef Witek, Sergeant Tadeusz Dubowski, Sergeant Wincenty Rutkowski, and Sergeant Stanisław Malczyk.

Maiden Flight of the Bakcyl

The composite glider PW-3 Bakcyl made its maiden flight. The 200 kg construction was the lightest two-seat glider in the world at the time of its maiden flight. One PW-3 was built.
