Death of Ludwik Idzikowski
During a transatlantic flight attempt, the engine of an Amiot 123 aircraft failed, forcing the crew to make an emergency landing on the rocky island of Faial in the Azores. The landing ended in an accident in which pilot Ludwik Idzikowski was killed and navigator Kazimierz Kubala was injured.
