Disaster in Kabacki Forest
On this day, the engines of the LOT Polish Airlines Il-62M “Tadeusz Kościuszko”, flying from Warsaw to New York, failed and a fire broke out on board. During an attempt to return to Okęcie, the aircraft crashed in Kabacki Forest. All aboard were killed – 172 passengers and 11 crew members.
