Československé Státní Aerolinie – the Czechoslovak state airline – was founded. Since 1995, it operated under the name České Aerolinie. Its operations ended in October 2024.
The Soviet twin-engine supersonic fighter MiG-29 made its maiden flight. Aircraft of this type were used by over 30 countries, including Poland. One example (in the German-modernised two-seat MiG-29GT version) is an exhibit at the Polish Aviation Museum.
