Hindenburg Disaster

The German airship LZ 129 “Hindenburg” caught fire while docking at Lakehurst airfield in New Jersey. Thirteen passengers and 22 crew members were killed, along with one ground crew member. Although the 245-metre hydrogen-filled airship burned in under 40 seconds, 62 people survived.
