Kraków Pilot School

On this day, the Lower Piloting School began operations at Rakowice airfield (today’s Polish Aviation Museum). By the end of 1920, nearly 30,000 training flights had been made and 84 pilots trained. At the end of 1920, the school was relocated to Bydgoszcz.

Airship Over the North Pole

Roald Amundsen and Umberto Nobile, at the helm of the airship “Norge”, began a transpolar flight from Spitsbergen. After the first flight over the North Pole in history, they landed on 14 May in Teller, Alaska.
