Representatives of 31 countries signed in Warsaw the “Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to International Carriage by Air”.

Wave Soaring at Bezmiechowa

For the first time in Poland, a glider pilot performed a flight using wave lift. Ryszard Dyrgałła, launching from Bezmiechowa at the controls of an SG-3bis/35, reached an altitude of 2,300 m.

Maiden Flight of the Gil

The SZD-16 Gil glider made its maiden flight. Only one example was built as a study of a glider with a metal fuselage. The designers used the experience gained in designing the SZD-25 Lis glider.

Longest Passenger Flight

The longest passenger flight in history was completed, lasting 19 hours and 16 minutes, during which a Qantas Dreamliner flew the route from New York to Sydney.
