G. 26. Lubień

On the afternoon of September 2, 1939, Dornier Do 17 bombers from the II Squadron of the 77th Bomber Wing attacked units of the Polish 10th Cavalry Brigade deployed along the Krzeczów – Pcim road. As a result of the raid, two Polish soldiers were killed and several were wounded. Polish anti-aircraft defenses damaged several German aircraft — one of the positions was located on the Warzechowice hill, 500 meters above the present-day black trail leading toward Strzeble. Shortly after this attack, an aircraft appeared over Lubień and came under anti-aircraft artillery and machine gun fire. An accurate burst from a heavy machine gun seriously wounded the pilot of a Henschel Hs 126 5F+GK from the 2nd Squadron of the 14th Reconnaissance Group. The aircraft flew off to the south and crashed on the border between Tenczyn and Krzeczów. Corporal Otto Seyfried was killed; observer Lt. Johann Reinfelder died in Myślenice from his injuries.
