C. 17. Kurów

The Podhale Aero Club, established in 1956 at the glider field on Jodłowiec Hill in Tęgoborze, did not have a landing strip on flat terrain, which made powered aircraft flights and winch-launched glider flights impossible.

In 1958, the Provincial Waterways Administration in Kraków transferred to the aero club, free of charge for a period of 10 years, the backwater area of Lake Rożnów near the bridge in Kurów on the southern end of the lake, 7 km north of Nowy Sącz. It was a meadow 900 m long in the north–south direction and 100–200 m wide. The landing strip, situated on flood-prone terrain, was not suitable for year-round operation or the construction of permanent structures, since from October 1 to March 31 it was submerged under water. For this reason, the Podhale Aero Club began efforts to acquire a new base, which culminated in the construction of the airfield at Łososina Dolna in September 1960. The landing strip at Kurów was seasonally used by the aero club until the mid-1960s.
