The Polish Aviation Museum project has a cultural character, supports the development of the culture and cultural tourism sector, and as a result contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of Małopolska. Its implementation follows the guidelines of Measure 5.2 of the Małopolska Regional Operational Programme, which envisages undertaking a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of Kraków as a European metropolis and enhancing the metropolitan functions of the area.

The objective of the measure will be achieved through: the construction of the Museum’s Main Building – modern in terms of form, interior furnishings and function – and the landscaping of part of the historic airfield grounds dating from 1912 to the standard of public green areas. The project will contribute to increasing the importance of culture in the metropolitan area as a factor influencing diversification and increased employment, the quality of life of residents and socio-economic development. The project is financed 75% from the European Regional Development Fund, with the remaining 25% of funding coming from the budget of the Małopolska Voivodeship.
