We will talk about the American carrier-based fighter that played a significant role in the early period of the Pacific war. The F4F halted the Japanese offensive in that theatre of operations and contributed to the defeat of Imperial Japan. It was also used by the British over maritime areas around Europe. Operating from escort carriers, it protected convoys in the Atlantic. We will learn about the history of creation and development, as well as the construction of this interesting carrier-based aircraft.
