Po-2 (U-2)
The Polish Aviation Museum
cordially invites you
August 11, 2024 (this Sunday)
to “Meeting by the Aircraft“
led by
Jan Hoffmann
The Polikarpov Po-2 was created in the second half of the 1920s as a response to the Soviet aviation’s need for a basic training aircraft that was cheap to produce and maintain, and easy to fly. It was first flown in January 1928 under the designation U-2. Other possible applications were discovered, making it a multipurpose aircraft. The aircraft gained fame during World War II as a light night bomber. In this version, it was also used in September 1944 for supply drops to aid the Warsaw Uprising. We will talk about the construction of this aircraft, as well as the history of its creation and development.
