The Fi 103 flying bomb was the first guided weapon used in combat, designed to attack targets at great distances. 80 years ago, in June 1944, it was used to bombard London. German propaganda gave it the name V1 (Vergeltungswaffe 1 — Retaliation Weapon 1). The mass use of these flying bombs spurred the development of a new type of weapon — cruise missiles and drones. We will talk about the construction of this weapon, as well as the history of its creation and development.
