Regulations for visiting and staying on the premises of the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow

§ 1
General information

  1. The Regulations for visiting and staying on the premises of the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow – hereinafter referred to as the “Regulations” – define the rules of entry and staying on the Museum premises.
  2. The Museum premises and all historic buildings and objects located therein constitute an integral whole protected by law. It is prohibited, under penalty of criminal liability, to interfere with, move, remove or destroy any buildings and objects located on the Museum premises and under its protection.
  3. The Museum is open to visitors on weekdays and public holidays in accordance with the current Order of the Director of the Polish Aviation Museum regarding the preparation of a list of days on which the Polish Aviation Museum will be closed.
  4. For safety reasons, due to ongoing conservation work or in other special circumstances, access to locations and buildings on the Museum premises may be restricted or completely closed by decision of the Museum Director, without any claims against the Museum in this regard.
  5. Entry to the Museum premises is voluntary and constitutes acceptance of these Regulations.
  6. The Museum is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday.
  7. Free admission day for exhibitions is Tuesday, except for special changes to the free admission day.
  8. On opening days, the Museum is accessible to visitors:
    8.1. 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM from November to February;
    8.2. 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM from March to May and in October;
    8.3. 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM from June to September.
  9. The ticket office stops selling tickets 45 minutes before the Museum closes.
  10. The exhibition of the Polish Aviation Museum consists of:
    10.1. aircraft exhibition in the Main Building;
    10.2. the “Wings of the Great War” exhibition in the Small Hangar;
    10.3. the “Wings and People of the 20th Century” exhibition in the Main Hangar;
    10.4. the “History Warehouses”, “Metamuseum”, “Engine Room” exhibitions in Garage No. 1;
    10.5. the “Aviation Archaeology” exhibition in the Parachute Building;
    10.6. aircraft exhibition in the Arched Hangar;
    10.7. the “With the Wind and Against the Wind – Civil Aviation” exhibition in Hangar No. 5;
    10.8. outdoor aircraft exhibition.
  11. Documents entitling the holder to purchase a reduced-price ticket must be presented before purchasing the ticket.
  12. A valid admission ticket or fiscal receipt is required for entry to the Museum and to view the exhibitions.

§ 2

Ticket prices, discounts and fee exemptions

The admission ticket prices, museum service fees and categories of persons entitled to free or reduced-price tickets are specified in the Ticket Price List published on the Museum’s website and available at the Museum ticket office.

§ 3

Rules of conduct

  1. On the Museum premises, visitors must comply with the provisions of the Visiting Regulations and generally applicable laws.
  2. During the visit, visitors must follow the instructions and recommendations of the Museum staff and Security personnel.
  3. Parents or guardians are responsible for minors.
  4. Movement on the Museum premises is permitted only in areas and buildings designated for this purpose.
  5. Visitors must exercise particular caution on the Museum premises due to the specific nature of the space (e.g. uneven surfaces, ground irregularities, entrances to accessible aircraft) resulting from the authenticity of the historic site. During the winter period, movement is permitted only along designated paths.
  6. Organized groups visiting the Museum premises that have not purchased a guided tour service should move in an organized manner under the supervision of a legal guardian.
  7. Organized groups that have purchased a guided tour service are required to arrive at the Museum at the designated visiting time. Late groups must expect a reduced tour duration.
  8. Organized groups visiting the Museum premises that have purchased a guided tour service should behave in a manner that enables the museum guide to conduct the tour properly. The legal guardian is responsible for the appropriate behaviour of the group.
  9. In the event of a threat on the Museum premises, visitors should notify Museum staff or Security personnel of any situations or behaviour affecting the safety of visitors, exhibits or museum buildings.
  10. The use of drones on the Museum premises is permitted in accordance with applicable EASA regulations for UAS operators in the European Union, subject to obtaining the consent of the Museum Director and submitting scanned copies of documents authorizing its use.
  11. Luggage or other items must not be left unattended on the Museum premises. The Museum is not responsible for lost, destroyed or damaged items.
  12. Amateur photographs and videos intended exclusively for private use are permitted on the Museum premises. Taking photographs or videos for the purpose of publication or commercial use is permitted only with the appropriate consent of the Museum Director and upon payment of a fee.
  13. Visitors are liable for damage to the Museum’s property or the property of others caused by their actions or omissions, and are liable for damage caused by persons or animals under their care.
  14. Parking of motor vehicles, electric vehicles, bicycles and scooters is permitted on the Museum premises only in designated areas. The Museum is not responsible for motor vehicles, electric vehicles, bicycles and scooters left in designated areas, nor for items left inside them.
  15. Motor vehicles, electric vehicles and bicycles may enter and move on the Museum premises only with prior consent of the Museum.
  16. Persons with disabilities may visit the exhibitions accompanied by assistance dogs (as defined in Art. 2(11) of the Act of 27 August 1997 on Vocational and Social Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2020, item 426, as amended) and the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 1 April 2010 on the issuance of certificates confirming the status of an assistance dog (Journal of Laws of 2010, No. 64, item 399).
  17. To facilitate the visiting of exhibitions by persons with disabilities, the Museum may provide wheelchairs to visitors. Persons using this option must return the wheelchair to the location where it was provided.

§ 4

Prohibitions

  1. Touching exhibits is strictly prohibited, except for objects adapted and made available for interactive visiting. In particular, climbing on exhibits on display and spinning propellers is prohibited. The Museum is not responsible for damage or accidents caused by visitors violating this prohibition.
  2. Consuming food and beverages in exhibition buildings is prohibited, except in designated areas.
  3. Persons who are intoxicated or under the influence of psychoactive substances, or who behave in a manner that threatens the safety of the collections or visitors, disrupts the order of the visit, or violates generally accepted standards of behaviour in public places, are prohibited from entering the Museum.
  4. Smoking tobacco and tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes, as well as bringing in and consuming psychoactive substances and alcoholic beverages, is prohibited on the Museum premises.
  5. Bringing animals onto the Museum premises without appropriate safety measures preventing them from causing harm to people, property or other animals is prohibited. All dogs brought onto the Museum premises must be secured with a leash and muzzle, may move under their owner’s supervision only in the outdoor exhibition area (except for the Main Building, where the Museum ticket office is located) and may not be brought into accessible aircraft. The Museum reserves the right to introduce a temporary complete ban on bringing animals onto the premises. This ban does not apply to assistance dogs.
  6. Persons who flagrantly violate these Regulations will be asked to leave the Museum premises. In such cases, no refund for purchased ticket(s) or other compensation will be provided.

§ 5

Final provisions

  1. A video surveillance system operates in publicly accessible areas of the Museum premises to ensure the safety of visitors and property, in particular exhibits. Detailed information about the video surveillance system is available at the entrance doors of the Museum’s Main Building.
  2. In matters not regulated by the Regulations, the provisions of Polish law shall apply, in particular the Civil Code, the Criminal Code and European legislation on personal data protection.
  3. In cases not covered by the Regulations, the Museum Security, in consultation with the Museum Director or a person authorized by them, shall resolve matters related to the rules of entry and staying on the Museum premises.
