A report on Mother’s Day at the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków

DURATION:23 / 05 / 2026 - 23 / 05 / 2026

On 23 May 2026, the Polish Aviation Museum was transformed into a space brimming with family energy, creativity and shared discovery. As part of the 14th Krakow Family Festival, organised by Krakow City Council and the “Arena Kraków” Foundation, participants celebrated Mother’s Day under the slogan “Family is a team – our strength lies in our relationships”. A rich programme of attractions awaited visitors, combining creative fun, learning about aviation history and quality time spent together.

The Krakow Family Festival has long held an important place in the city’s calendar of events, providing a space for people to spend time together, build close relationships and strengthen a sense of community. This year’s edition placed particular emphasis on the importance of family ties, mutual support and addiction prevention. The Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków also played an active role in the celebrations, preparing attractions inspired by the fascinating world of aviation and its history, encouraging participants to spend time together and have fun.

A day full of inspiration and shared discovery

The day began with a workshop on making aviation-themed key rings, which ran from 10:00 to 11:30. Under the watchful eye of the instructors, mums and their children created unique souvenirs inspired by the world of aviation. In an atmosphere of concentration and creative fun, families spent nearly an hour and a half working together, leaving with a handmade souvenir that will serve as a lasting reminder of the day.

At 12.30 pm, the scarf-tying workshop began – a session brimming with inspiration and fashion ideas. For half an hour, participants learnt various techniques for tying and styling scarves, discovering how to easily add an elegant touch to everyday outfits. Scarves were worn not only in the classic way around the neck, but also as hair accessories or striking additions to handbags.

Immediately following the scarf-making workshops, at 1.00 pm and 1.15 pm, the highlight of the day’s programme took place: two special guided tours entitled ‘In the Footsteps of Female Aviators at the Polish Aviation Museum’. During the tours of the museum exhibition, the guides took the participants on a fascinating journey in the footsteps of women who have left an indelible mark on the history of Polish and world aviation.

The final part of the programme consisted of art and craft workshops, which ran from 2 pm to 4 pm. For two hours, children and mums decorated canvas bags together with aviation symbols – drawing, painting and creating their own designs. The little artists’ brushes produced aeroplanes in all sorts of colours and shapes – each one different, each one unique.

Thank you all for coming, for your enthusiasm and for the wonderful atmosphere! We look forward to seeing you again at future events.
